Quilt of Love
Bridal couples have long looked for wedding guest book ideas that would allow them to regularly see the names and thoughts of the people that were in attendance on their special day. With most wishing to avoid the creation of a simple book that languishes in an attic or basement never to see the light of day.
To combat this dilemma a number of unique and inventive ideas have been making the wedding rounds, but one in particular will definitely keep you warm even on the coldest of days, wrapped in the love and good wishes of your friends and family in a Wedding Quilt.
Typically made from cotton squares signed upon with fabric pens, there are a number of inventive ideas that utilize this accessory to make a one of a kind memento.
One idea is to have squares of fabric sitting at the guest table for each guest to sign. While this allows you to pick and choose the squares that can sit in prominent spots upon your quilt, and allows you to eliminate those questionable squares created by old college buddies or children running amok. Most blocks need to leave room for sewing afterwards, and trying to ensure that guests sign without going over the sewing border can often be tricky.
Another quilting idea is to send a square of fabric in each of your invitations, inviting people not only to your wedding, but to contribute to your quilt, by writing, drawing, cross stitching, or embroidering a message, onto their individual square. Once guests have assembled, they can display their squares and assemble them in quilt fashion on a large table for other guests and for the bride and groom to see, before being taken away to be made into the quilt.
With good instructions and impressing upon guests the need for wash-resistant materials to be used, you can be assured that the quality of the messages and the contributions will rise, what you cannot be assured of is that every guest will remember their square. To offset this chance, you can also include in your instructions or during the reception the date the quilt will be assembled.
While it is impossible to return the favor of a quilt to each of your guests, in the form of a wedding favor, you can still carry your quilted theme into your favors by placing them inside quilted favor boxes.
Guest books are created to allow you to remember your wedding day and the people that shared it with you, what better way to surround yourself with their love than with the creation of their thoughts and hopes for your future on a Wedding Quilt.
