Priceless Candid Moments

The advent of digital cameras has meant that some bridal couples, in an attempt to cut costs, have removed the service of a professional photographer from their weddings. While it is true that a photograph-savvy family friend can take those posed portraits well enough with a decent camera, it is the talent of a photographer in capturing candid moments whose worth cannot be given a price tag.

For many couples, the first question they ask their potential photographer is what the cost of his/her various wedding packages are, when what they should really be asking them is what particular style they follow.

Look at samples of their work to see how they capture those special, unguarded, unposed moments. for this is the only way you will truly know their skills as a photographer.

Next, look at their talent with photo enhancing computer programs. Today's photographers must be well versed in the design aspect of photographic enhancement. Photo enhancement abilities also separate the true photographic artists from those who point and shoot a camera. Taking that perfect candid shot, and converting it to a black and white or sepia tone, while adding one focal element of color, such as the flowers in the bride's bouquet, the boutonniere in the groom's buttonhole, or a wedding favor or accessory sitting on a nearby table, takes an ordinary photograph and turns it into a-one-of-a-kind treasured memory of a beautiful day.

While most couples will remember the important aspects of their wedding day, it is the photographer's job to capture those special unguarded moments that they perhaps did not see. The look on the groom's face as he sees his bride for the first time, the look in a father's eye as he gives his daughter away, or the priceless antics of a bored flower girl while vows are being said are the special memories that are not always seen in the bigger picture of the day.

Choose a professional to capture all of those unguarded moments and make a decision based on talent, not just price alone.
