Entertaining Younger Guests

As much time and attention that is spent choosing wedding accessories that will impress your guests and wedding favors they will cherish for years, to the younger guests in attendance at your wedding, these delights will barely register on the entertainment meter. For them, once the excitement of wearing new clothes and being the centre of attention wanes, the rest of your wedding will loom before them and their parents as something that needs to be endured.

As young children become bored and restless, their behavior starts to become unruly. Curbing that behavior and trying to cater to bored children is a situation that proves difficult for many parents during a wedding, with little left to them for resources. A situation that, in turn, makes it hard for the parents to relax and have a good time themselves.

One suggestion to help overcome the boredom children experience at weddings is to provide them with a wedding activity pack. Available in pre-formed packages or ones you create yourself, these child-like wedding favors are the perfect thing to amuse youngsters while the more adult activities such as speeches and toasts occur.

Consisting of small books full of word puzzles, mazes, coloring pages, crayons and more, these activity packs go a long way to ensure that all of your guests, both young and old alike remember your wedding with fondness.

If there are enough children attending the wedding to allow for a children's only table, decorating the table with child friendly and visually pleasing centerpieces as well as covering the table in paper for coloring and doodling can create a more interesting environment for children.

If the wedding is located in a hotel, some brides have elected to hire a child sitter to entertain children in a separate room away from the adults. The room is filled with crafts, video games, television and DVD player as well as snacks and beverages suited to a younger audience. While a welcome break for parents, it also acts as a welcomed timeout from the wedding for the kids and allows them to chow down on pizza or other kid friendly food instead of having to put on their best manners and sit still in their formal duds.

Once the dancing starts, kids can be invited back to join the rest of the guests and party the night away.

With more and more children invited to take part in the weddings of friends and family alike, a little planning on the part of the bride and groom can ensure that everyone has the time of their lives.
