Beware the Perfect Location

When scouting for that perfect location keep a few of these questions in mind:

What would you do in case of rain? Should you have tents brought in that will double as a reception venue or will umbrellas do? If choosing an outdoor setting, do you have a backup plan in case of inclement weather, especially if there are no appropriate venues that can substitute easily in the immediate area?

Where will your reception be held? If the wedding ceremony is taking place in a remote location, and traveling will need to be done to reach the next location, have you thought how your guests will be able to bridge that distance?

Accessories and favors may also be a cause for concern. Who will transport them from the ceremony local to the reception?

If the location is not one that is usually used for this sort of function, there may be added work such as renting chairs, tables, linens, place settings, glassware, and silverware, everything that would be necessary to host a full-on reception.

If the location does not have a health-regulated kitchen, where food can be prepared, caterers can always be hired to bring food in. Remember, especially in a location where traveling is required, that it may limit the number of hot dishes you can have. Most caterers will have serving staff available to present and clean up the meal. The servers may also double as bar service providers.

While choosing a remote location may have it's drawbacks in terms of amenities, on the upside is the chance for you and your fiance to truly make your wedding very personal and customized. Although a lot of work, the work itself can draw you closer to family and friends who volunteer to help as well as to each other.

If after all those questions have been answered and you still feel like the location is perfect for you as a couple, then take the time when the work is done to enjoy it!
