Belly up to the Jelly Bean Buffet

If you're looking for a sweet alternative to the traditional wedding favor look no further than a sweet sugar candy buffet.

A relatively simple idea that takes the work of favor creation out of the hands of bride and groom and puts it in the hands of their guests. Candy buffets allow each guest to take home the candy flavored favor that best suits them.

While a popular favor, many brides' dream candy buffets fall woefully short of their mark, simply due to the sheer lack of candy provided. If you are wanting to make a really large impression, choose anywhere from 10 to 15 varieties and purchase 15 to 20 pounds of each. It is always better to have too much over too little.

While the math for how much candy you will require is easy enough, approximately 3 ounces for every guest invited, the actual impressive and decorative impact of a candy buffet will require much more than math alone.

To make a true visual impact you have to think big, not particularly in size of candy, but rather in size of the decorative impact you will have. Will the candy selection contain a wide variety of colors, flavors and sizes? Will the containers be small and artfully arranged or large and ostentatious? Just as with any other wedding accessory, plenty of planning needs to go into creating a candy buffet that's as pleasing to the eye as it is to the tummy.

Plan on choosing candy for its contribution to your theme and decorative color scheme, and follow flavor second. With the right candy supplier you will usually have a bountiful choice of tasty delights made available once they know what theme they will be revolving around.

Next choose your containers, and ensure that they not only are fun and funky, but also easily accessible for guest's searching scoops. Martini glasses, vases, clear glass cookie jars, whatever you choose for your candy containers, be sure to choose a wide variety of shapes and sizes, and raise a few to ensure a visual "pop".

Once your visually tasty treat is ready for guests to sample, make sure the favor bags, containers, tins, or boxes are worthy of your towering triumph. Make sure they are easy to seal or close once filled. While ribbon can sometimes be a little too fussy for guests to seal bags with, personalized wedding stickers will easily seal small cellophane bags in an instant.

Create your own magical favor with a candy buffet that will have guests running to belly up to the bar.
