Decorating with Toppers
With so many cute and inventive cake toppers on the market today that veer far from the traditional, it's hard to choose just one. So why bother? Instead of using one single wedding cake topper perched atop of your cake, look to many different cake toppers to represent you and your groom and use them as decorative pieces throughout your wedding to add a touch of whimsy and humor.
For those who talk on their cell phones a lot, you can find a cake topper of a bride and groom blissfully talking on their cell phones. For those with a fishing habit, there are toppers that show the bride reeling her groom in. Instead of having to make the difficult choice of choosing from these and other humorous figurines, when so many represent some aspect of your lives, choose instead to use all of them.
Use them on your guest book table, to spur some memories that guests may write about such as a hobby they have shared with you like golf. For your wedding favor table choose a topper that will coincide with your favor theme, such as a "geeky" groom standing next to a basket of rolled up personalized mouse pads, or keyboard dusters. Or use them at your bar or refreshment stand as a way of amusing guests as they wait in line by using a sports clad groom.
Cake toppers can even be used as centerpiece additions. Instead of escort cards that show a name or a number for a table, use cake toppers as the table identifiers, with a graphic of the topper on the card. To make it even more interesting, you can even try and seat your guests at the table boasting the topper that best reflects the relationship they have to you. A table made up of female friends of the bride can be seated at a table adorned with a princess bride kissing a frog, or the bride giving a love pinch to her groom and tables of male friends of the groom can be seated at a table of an exasperated groom standing near a sign that says “Gone Shopping,” or a topper of the bride wearing the pants underneath her wedding gown and the groom standing there in all his pant-less glory.
Today's cake toppers are fun and unique novelty pieces that bespeak of many of the fun and humorous aspects that exist between the majority of today’s modern couples. It would be a shame to be limited to using just one. Choose all of the cake toppers that represent you as a couple from humorous to romantic and decorate not just your cake but your entire reception with a full line-up of these wonderful novelty toppers.
