To Infinity and Beyond
For some couples, choosing a unique and memorable wedding date is of the utmost importance. Last year, couples all over the world, chose July 7, 2007 with some wedding service providers claiming that because of the date’s 07/07/07 status, they had seven times the amount of wedding business that day.
That is why this summer, service providers everywhere are shoring up their resources for another unique date that is taking shape amongst bride and groom’s with a superstitious nature, that of August 8, 2008, or 08/08/08.
The number 8 is considered to be lucky in some Asian cultures due to its close proximity to the symbol for health and prosperity. Choosing a date that is favorable and auspicious for special events such as weddings in their opinion increases the chance of success.
When turned on its side it is also the symbol for infinity, and who wouldn’t want their marriage to take place on a day symbolized by infinity?
To incorporate the number 8 into your wedding ceremony and reception, there are a number of decorative accessories you can add.
For centerpieces you might want to choose eight candles, eight small bud vases, or eight clusters of any decorative item. To carry the theme further, place your items on an octagonal tray or mirror, to reflect the number’s prominence. Choose a stylized heart set, such as one with two inverted hearts atop one another to symbolize the number 8 or place two round objects, such as bowls with floating candles in them, side by side and create your own number 8.
The number 8 can also be incorporated into your cake design, either in the shape of octagons, two circles side by side, or by creating a towering design comprised of 8 tiers.
Choose chocolate number 8’s as wedding favors for your guests, or key fobs with a stylized number 8 upon them to give your guests a taste of fortune and prosperity that they can bring home with them.
If looking for a wedding date that symbolizes your own desire to last for infinity surrounded by prosperity and health, look no further than the number 8.
