Astro Turf Anyone?

Ask most sports-minded grooms what their favorite wedding location would be, and chances are you'll often hear them speak wishfully about getting hitched on the 50 yrd line of their favorite football stadium, at the home plate of their favorite baseball field, on the center line of their favorite hockey arena, or at the center court of their favorite basketball stadium. Now, thanks to a growing trend by owners of these stadiums, it's a dream he can have come true.

As a bride, while initially the idea may not thrill you, and you may not be willing to concede to an overall sporting theme to your wedding, you may want to seriously look into stadium venues, not only to please your groom, but also because they can be sensational venues all on their own.

An outdoor stadium has a number of different possibilities.  You can choose to have your ceremony outdoors on the field, followed by an indoor reception in a meeting or banquet room housed within the stadium, or erect an outdoor tent, and continue the outdoor fun, right on the field.  As with any outdoor wedding, choosing to have a tent onsite affords you protection should the weather turn nasty, but equally gives you the chance to dance the night away under the stars, right out on the field.

Sometimes you can use terraces and boxed areas normally reserved during games for special VIP guests as a dance floor with a view, paired with their exclusive dining rooms, and their equally exclusive chefs.  At a venue such as this you can have the best of both elegance and masculine sporting charm all under one roof.

If you do want to incorporate your venue into an overall wedding theme, your locale can open up endless possibilities.  Possibilities that can be furthered by the sporting goods or souvenir shops found onsite dedicated to the team you love, which can provide favors, glassware or other accessories for use at your reception.

By far one of the biggest advantages to choosing a stadium or arena-like setting for your ceremony and/or reception is the photo opportunities that arise.

Seated in the stands, pictured at one of the concession stands or ticket booths, standing high atop a wondrous view point of the field, or standing directly on the field itself where history might once have been made.  The memories of your wedding day will be relived each time you revisit to watch your favorite team in action.

If you're looking for a wedding venue that will spark your groom's interest, look at the second closest thing to his heart and let him score a sports-oriented venue to be married in.
