Petal Pushers
If you love the color and scent of fresh flowers but hate the expense, look to floral petals as an equally dramatic and aromatic alternative.
A great decorative outdoor item placed throughout or lining your center aisle, petals can be chosen to match your wedding color theme, or to match your surroundings, with specially dyed petals available for colors that are not naturally grown.
Instead of rice, place coned sachets of fresh petals at the entrance to your ceremony and offer guests a green alternative to throw as you walk down the aisle. Or place small buckets filled with petals strategically at the exit to your wedding car, so that guests can grab a handful to throw at will.
When looking to purchase floral petals for your wedding accessories, a number of different alternatives are available. Whereas freeze dried petals may cost you slightly less than fresh, if you're looking for rich supple petals you are better off to stick with fresh over the staying power of freeze dried petals.
For a real budget saver, you also might want to visit your local greenhouse or florist where lesser grade leftover petals may be purchased. While these may not be of high enough quality to decorate your cake with, or to decorate your tables and/or favour boxes, they do make for a perfect inexpensive alternative to line your aisles or for guests to throw.
Should you choose to use fresh petals as decorative items for cakes though, be sure to check with your baker and/or your florist to ensure that the petals you choose are indeed edible and will not in any way leech or bleed color onto your cake. What might have started out as a beautiful display might end up making your guests ill, so be sure to inquire beforehand.
Fresh petals lining your aisle way, or in the hands of your flower girl, or even in the hands of your guests. Fresh petals on your wedding cake, or fresh petals as your table centerpieces. If you are looking for a cost effective way to make your guests say "wow" - say it with fresh petals.
