Voyage Themed Weddings

Some have said that marriage is the beginning of a lifelong voyage, so what better way to signify that voyage than with a wedding theme that wraps itself around that sentiment.

To set the tone use invitations made to look like treasure maps with burnt edges, or for a greener tone, print your invitations on the back of recycled maps.  Personalized detail stamped postcards with a retro feel to them are also great invitation, escort card or favor card alternatives.

To add the voyage ambiance to your decor, look to stylized globes or multi-national flags as centerpieces, or identify your tables with the names of different countries around the world.

A wedding cake "stamped" with visas from around the world, tastefully done with decorative icing will have guests dreaming of far off destinations, as will miniature suitcases, or travel trolley favors filled with candy or chocolate treats.

For a more exotic favor, you also might want to send guests home with a miniaturized old fashioned steamer trunks or treasure chests filled to the brim with delicious gold coins.

If your tastes run to the more practical than fantastical type of favor, you can also gift your guests with luggage tags temporarily filled with all of your wedding details.  

To compliment your voyage-themed wedding pair it with an international menu, offering guests platters of sushi, baskets of warm Naan (Indian flatbread), or appetizers created from Italian meatballs or slices of Dutch cheese.
