A Vision in Vintage
To create romantic and beautiful weddings, brides of today are looking to the past to discover new inspiration in old ideas and items.
From dresses in rich creamy silks enveloped in antique lace, to frothy ruffles and frills in soft and flowing cottons, there are a wide variety of vintage dresses available to discerning brides either as aged originals or as fabulous reproductions.
While easily paired with a gossamer flowing veil, many brides choose to forego flowing veils in favor of hats or headpieces adorned with nets, flowers or pearls, choosing instead to let the attention shine on their dress.
Rings are yet another wedding accessory that are being sought after with a vintage look, whether as a simple antique band or a diamond featured in a dainty filigree setting. A favorite that can be found at estate sales and antique stores, vintage rings can also feature large brightly colored stones such as garnets, citrines and amethysts secured with large ornate claws.
For a less expensive yet still dramatic accessory, look to a vintage-style evening purse adorned with beads or jewels. The added bonus of this vintage accessory is that it can be used again and again long after you are married.
Carry your vintage-styled wedding theme throughout your wedding accessories with vintage looking ring bearer pillows, guest books, signature pens all the way through to your guest's wedding favors.
Fill a decorative basket with vintage handkerchiefs to catch every tear of joy, or fill the handkerchiefs themselves with candy or sugared almonds and tie them up with a ribbon for an old-fashioned sweet treat. Other favor ideas include silver candlesticks, or silver horseshoe shaped favors adorned with flowers for good luck.
Make all that is old new again, with a vintage-themed wedding.
