Bi Bi-Color

Brides looking to mix it up with their bridesmaid dresses are looking to a new trend that takes wedding palettes to new heights, with not one but two colors.

Whether dressed in two separate solids, bi-colored dresses, or dresses that are a mixture of colors with matching sashes, the old tradition of having one single color surrounding the bride, is no longer.

When choosing two or more colors for your wedding, make sure they come from opposite sides of the colour wheel in a complementary fashion, for the greatest impact.

Choose chocolate brown and strawberry or icy blue, or navy with cream or yellow. Whichever colors you choose, the number of different combinations you can create are simply staggering.

Have bridesmaids wear a dress in one color with its complimentary color as a sash, and another wear the complete reverse. (ie. Brown with an icy blue sash, and icy blue with a brown sash). If having three or more bridesmaids you can even have one bridesmaid in one solid color, the second in the complimentary color, and the third, to denote maid of honor status, dressed in a combination of the two.

Different shades of the same colors also work well, whether worn individually or in a bi-colored style.

To add a true splash of color at your wedding you may also want to consider a color run, where each bridesmaid, (no matter how many) wears a different color of the same dress.

Today's bridesmaids dresses follow only two rules: they are to provide a frame to showcase the bride's dress, and they are never to be white. After that, it's no holds barred.

Say goodbye to the dullness of a monochromatic weddings and hello to bi-colored dresses, a trend that will frame the bride perfectly!
