Music that Moves You the Right Way on Your Wedding Day
Music, the one wedding accessory no wedding can be without. From the opening strains as you glide down the aisle to your intended, to the triumphant march back down as husband and wife, music plays an integral part, not only in your ceremony but in your reception. The choices you make are the key to having a wedding that is sure to be remembered for years to come.
For your ceremony a lot of things need to be taken into account when making your music selection. If in a church, does the officiant allow secular (non-religious) music? If not, are you versed in hymns or classical music enough to make informed decisions? Many churches and wedding venues have music coordinators that can help you make these important decisions. To ensure that the chosen selections suit you and your guests, be sure to investigate the recommended selections (lyrics and sound) before making an agreement.
For the time-honored tradition of the first dance, you should choose a tune that reflects both you and your fiancé and the life you will lead together. Remember this is a tune that will follow you your entire married life, so be sure to make it one that will stand the test of time.
The biggest decision, when it comes to your reception, lies in the choice between a DJ and a live band. With a live band, you get the energy of live music, but a sometimes limited repertoire. A minimal song selection may result in inappropriate music for varied age groups. For instance, the rock and roll that you and cousin Barry love may be too boisterous for dear old Aunt Marge.
A DJ can offer unlimited music selection but may lack the stage presence a live musician has to interact with your guests to get them up dancing. Check to make sure that the DJ does indeed have the selection you are looking for. Be sure to check references and talk to other couples for whom the DJ has officiated.
Long after your guests have forgotten your anniversary date, the music they listened to at your wedding will remain with them. Make your special day a good memory by choosing wisely.
