Charitable Favors

Wedding favors are often a source of great contemplation for today's bride. While some simply want an elegant treat for guests to enjoy, others are looking for something truly memorable through which they can thank their guests for their attendance. New on the wedding favor scene is an idea that does both: the charitable wedding favor.

A charitable wedding favor offers you the chance to give guests something that they'll remember forever. Chose one charity in particular, or choose a wide assortment that not only have special meaning to you, but may have special meaning to a number of your guests as well.

Choose to make a charitable donation to Breast Cancer, and receive small pink ribbons, or ribbon pins that you can enclose in favor boxes for guests to open and wear, along with a note telling guests of your donation in their honor.

Choose an environmental cause, and print a note on recycled paper that tells guests of the donation. Paste it onto a seed packet and tie it up with recycled ribbon to make a truly green favor.

Donate to a school or education fund, and attach the declaration note to a pencil imprinted with your wedding details. Or donate to a food bank or soup kitchen, with the note attached to a chocolate spoon.

Why not choose more than one? If your tables seat 8 for instance, try choosing 8 different charities, one for each place setting, so that guests can each discover which charity has been donated to in their name. While slightly more time consuming, to create 8 different note cards, and to distribute all cards evenly around the room, this idea can also be a great conversation starter as guests look to see all of the other charities that are benefited.

You may instead decide to pick a charity for each table, naming each table for that charity, and creating escort cards from small envelopes that contain notes telling of the donation.

There are many charities that are in need of support, why not give your guests the most meaningful gift of all, and honor them for their most welcome attendance at your wedding day.
