Not The Norm

Did you and your beloved meet in your local department store's electronics section? Do you both share a passion for the Gorilla house at your local zoo? Or has the latest pirate craze have you both longing to be wed on a pirate ship, even if it is smack dab in the middle of the world's largest mall?

We all realize that marriage is a serious undertaking but thank-goodness the locations you choose to wed at don't have to be. "Have JP will travel" is the mantra of many a bridal couple these days and the more unusual of a location the better for those who want freedom from what they view as cookie-cutter weddings.

From free to outrageously expensive and everything in-between, cost is a big factor in choosing an unusual location. Remember there also may be some concessions needed to procure one. In the case of a business location, you may have to allow some media coverage so that they can garner some free advertising, but the benefit to you is a professional photographer or videographer free of charge!

Deciding if your unusually situated wedding is a complete theme that you want to carry on into the reception is another aspect you have to decide upon before booking your locale. If your pirate ship wedding requires that your wedding guests all sport an eye-patch and shout "Argh" for the wedding toast, you might want to make sure the appropriate wedding accessories are out there to make that dream a reality.

Catering to the modern bridal couple, many wedding accessory providers are thinking outside the box and are offering unique wedding favors and accessories, from casino-styled accessories in wedding colors, to swimwear and flip-flops emblazoned with "Just Married" for the scuba divers or other beach-oriented couples.

Above all, a wedding should be an enjoyable experience and special to who you are as a couple. If that means a wedding outside of the norm... go for it.
