Relax, Unwind - It's Rehearsal Dinner Time
The Rehearsal Dinner is the perfect opportunity, before the big day, to give out those special thank yous to family and wedding attendants and to bestow upon them a small wedding favor or token of your appreciation.
Traditionally hosted by the groom’s family, it can be compromised of a casual BBQ, a sit-down dinner in a restaurant, or a catered affair with "casual" being the word of the day. This event does not require formal invitations or any other type of wedding accessories. Those should be saved for the wedding day itself.
As a time for toasts by fathers, mothers and your great Uncle George, it should also be utilized as a time to really connect with the family and friends you hold near and dear, a connection that can sometimes gets lost with the pressure to mingle and entertain invited guests during the reception. What it is not a time for is a night of chatting into the wee hours of the morning, partying, drinking or dancing the night away. Any attempts to make it so, by unruly attendants or relatives, should be quickly kyboshed.
Use the time of the rehearsal dinner as a way to casually go over last minute details, expectations, timelines, and to ensure that everyone knows what is expected of them the following day. Like any great team before a big game, use the time during the rehearsal dinner to prepare your team and prepare yourself for one of the greatest moments of your life.
