Ring Warming Ceremony

For those that are looking for that extra special touch to bring to their wedding ceremony, a ring warming ceremony may be just what you are looking for.

While there are a number of different ways to include a ring warming ceremony, the accepted tradition is to have your wedding officiate make an announcement near the beginning of your ceremony.

The premise of the ceremony is this: to benefit from the love and support of those present before the bride and groom exchange their rings, the rings are circulated amongst the guests. At which point each guest will hold the rings for a brief moment and give their personal blessing upon them, before passing them onto the next. Once circulated throughout the room, the rings are then returned to the bride and groom to be placed upon each other's fingers.

Some nervous bridal couples, may feel uneasy at the thought of their precious rings haphazardly passing amongst a crowded room, and for that reason some have performed the ceremony with the rings tied together with ribbon before passing them on, while the truly fearful have encased them in a small satin bag to be past around in.

Depending upon the number of guests attending, this is a ceremony, while special in meaning, can be a time consuming practice that may leave a void of wait time that needs to be filled. A way to avoid that lengthy wait time is to start circulating the rings at the very beginning of the ceremony, or by having songs scheduled to be played or sung during their circulation.

If the size of your guest list makes the idea of holding a ring warming ceremony seem daunting, another possible solution is to have the rings waiting at the front of the church or ceremony location, located next to a guest book. As guests sign in, they can take a moment to "warm" the rings, before taking their seat.

Choosing to perform a ring warming ceremony means that when your rings finally come to rest upon your hand, they will contain not only the love you have for one another, but also the love, hope and pledge of support of all those that you love.
