Small-Downed Weddings
Sometimes the perfect vision for a wedding doesn't fit the realities of a budget. That's when couples have to decide if the horse and carriage they've always wanted is more important than including on their guest list that second cousin twice removed they haven't seen since childhood.
As more and more couples start to pay for their nuptials themselves, no longer having the benefit of parents who are willing to pay for everything, brides and grooms of today are continuing to have the big weddings, but in a smaller down scaled way.
In comes the beautiful white dress, the 4-tiered wedding cake, the romantic transportation, the gorgeous photos, fun and fancy favors and fabulous meals, and out goes the mega guest lists that usually accompany such fare. More dinner-party than wedding reception, these couples opt for the more intimate affair that arises by having only those who are near and very dear to you attend, without sacrificing the longed-for amenities and accessories.
Known as Millennial Weddings, the only rule that seems to be followed are that there are no rules, though by nature they are usually: small, intimate, personalized, fun, representative of the personalities involved, filled with one or more "quirky" details, and environmentally or globally conscious in some way, shape or form.
It's a trend that reflects the age of the millennial, those born between 1980 and 1995 and it's a trend that is swiftly becoming the 'norm" for weddings today.
Spiced with techno savy, what these weddings lack in size by guests they make up for in fun, and in typical millennial fashion, are weddings that are more offbeat than traditional.
If your budget and age demographic falls into the millennial category, and even if it doesn't, why not capitalize on it, pare back your guest list, and ramp up your fun, by making your special day into a day that truly is all yours.
