Weddings the Second Time Around
For a first marriage, most people choose a traditional wedding concept. For those who are marrying for the second time a second wedding gives the bride freedom to choose colors and concepts that may be far different from when she was a first time bride.
While the wedding dress for the first wedding is traditionally white, the second time bride can choose any color she wishes.
Many times with a second marriage it not only means joining two lives as one but possibly three or more when there are children from previous relationships. Having the children participate in the wedding ceremony is a wonderful way to start your married life by symbolizing the blending of two families.
One way to include the children in the wedding ceremony is to have them help light the Unity candle. There are special unity candles available that are personalized with the first names of each individual in the family with the family surname.
Another ceremony which shows the union of the family is the sand ceremony. In this ceremony each person is represented by a different color of sand. Each person pours their sand into a clear vase/receptacle to show their lives joining with each other in the way they hope their family will. This makes a beautiful decorative piece to have showcased in your home.
