Flea Market Finds

Wedding decor and accessories don't have to break the bank and a quick trip to a flea market can prove it.

Choose glassware, pottery or other accessories that fit the theme of your wedding. Place them in a wicker, glass or mirrored bottom tray, and give your wedding a vintage feel without paying a modern price.

Fill them with flowers as an opulent decorative piece, candles for ambiance, or candies as a favor addition and you will soon see the truly unlimited things you can do with second-hand treasures.

For the eco-friendly bride the thrifty finds of a flea market also offers the chance to re-use items that would otherwise be thrown away in a money-saving way that will add a touch of whimsy to your special day.

With cut glass of all shapes and sizes, found at your local flea market, garage sales, or even in the attics of your family and friends, you can create an elegant table vignette of mixed sizes and mixed colors. Simply add a wick to each of them and pour in melted soy wax, thus creating an easy one of a kind centerpiece. If time is of the essence, the same effect can be achieved simply by adding votives or tealights in the color of your choosing.

While some may find plateware for every guest too extensive an item to search for, others take it on as a challenge, looking for plates of a certain color scheme, though not identical, to create an eclectic place setting that is as unique as your day.

Use tea cups as invitations. If not for the wedding then for a wedding shower, rehearsal luncheon, or gift opening, attaching to the handle of each cup, the pertinent invitation details of time, place and date.

Don't live near a large flea market, or live in a rural area where garage sales are not de-rigeur? Now there are many flea market-styled websites available for you to browse and choose the items you want online, many with free delivery.

Costs of a wedding can easily sky-rocket without too much prevarication, why not cut costs the easiest way possible, while contributing to the reduce, reuse, recycle theory of an eco-friendly wedding and visit your local flea market for wondrous finds that are as eclectic as you are.
