Team Players
Choosing attendants is always a difficult task, more so if you are a regular participant in a group or on a team, where each team member is special to you in a different way.
To address the desire to include your team or group in your wedding plans, without having the stress of trying to find partners for a large group of people, look for ways that you can have your attendants and your team too.
For a sports team, you may want to have all members arrive in their uniforms and walk down the aisle in a procession before you, or you may want to incorporate their presence by having them flank the aisle you will walk down, either towards the aisle or at the end of the ceremony as a sort of honor guard.
No matter what the group, if they are important to you, and a major focus in your life, there is always a way to incorporate their presence so that their importance is known to the rest of your guests.
Part of a dance troupe? Have your dancers in costumes that reflect your wedding colors, precede you down the aisle, and/or perform at the reception.
Part of a fencing team? Have your team mates create an archway with their swords, for you to walk under before or after the ceremony or as you enter the reception. If your wedding theme falls under the description of a medieval feast, you may even want to have your team mates demonstrate their prowess.
Part of a football team? Have your team mates dressed in full gear, line the aisles as an honor guard, or at your reception entrance, where you and your new spouse can run out onto the field.
Not only does incorporating your team or group give a nod of recognition to people who may play a big role in your life, it also makes for a wonderful photo opportunity for guests, and for your official photographer.
As an added piece of advice, try to arrange to have formal photographs taken of you and you're new spouse with your group or team to enable you all to remember the special role they played on your wedding day and as a special favor you can bestow on those team mates after the wedding.
Weddings are a time to have the people that matter most to you surround you. Be a true team player and invite that part of your life to play a role at your wedding.
