How We Met
For some, the story of how they met is a very special, romantic or funny one, and is one they are looking to share on their wedding day.
Today, rather than simply telling the story during toasts and speeches, couples are devising new and interesting ways to tell the tale as a way of both entertaining their guests and preserving the story for posterity.
An idea that works is to post the story on a wedding webpage. Not only can the site be filled with all the factual details of your wedding of when, where and how it can also be filled with the pertinent details of why. A good read for all your guests that will let them see a little deeper into your lives, and into the romance that started it all.
Another fun idea that is starting to be popular amongst couples is the idea of a "how we met" video played in lieu of the traditional slide show or powerpoint that show the bride and groom growing up.
Created in a "he said/she said" format, the video combines separate interviews with the bride and the groom, to piece together the story of their coming together.
Done with a simple video camera, and a movie making program on your computer, or created with the help of a talented videographer, many of whom are creating "how we met videos" as part of their wedding taping services, these videos are not only a great keepsake for the bridal couple to look back on, they are also an entertaining accessory for guests to enjoy during your reception.
You can continue the entertainment by giving your guests a wedding favor that reflects that meeting. Now that everyone is in the "know", the favor will have much more significance. If you meet on a train, crystal trains filled with mints would be the ideal favor. If you meet online, mouse pads, key board brushes, or magnetic key board letters, emblazoned with the statement "we clicked" all would make for perfect favors.
A couple's "how we met" story is a very personal one, and what better day to share it than on the day where you take that meeting to the next level by becoming husband and wife.
