Cavernous Weddings
While your friends and family may think you batty for your choice of venue location, there are a surprisingly large number of brides and grooms who are choosing caves as their wedding venue of choice.
While most national park caves will offer a spectacular natural cathedral-type setting that can literally take your breath away. For those with a more adventurous spirit there are still caves around that can be accessed only by hiking-in, making for a more pristine and natural setting that can become a photographers dream.
Sound is also an important part of a cave wedding. While some will have their own natural orchestrations playing in the background by way of waterfall, others provide fantastical acoustics perfect for small orchestras or other classical assemblies. Rock or pop music are generally frowned upon, because of the vibrations and the rock falling damage they can cause.
While some might choose a cave wedding strictly for the romantic setting they offer, others will choose them because of their deep love of rock, and the part it plays in the history of the world in general and the site specifically.
Strong, solid and timeless, all the qualities you hope for in a marriage, cave weddings can be integrated into your day with specific references, from the symbolic to the nutty.
Looking for a comical cake topper? Choose a cave man and woman perched high atop a frosted layer of a cake dripping with stalactites and stalagmites.
For your favors, you can run the gamut of crystallized or polished rock paperweights, detailed with a favor card that says "Solid like a rock" or from the more adventurous spelunking bridal couples you might see silver plated carabineers, a useful tool for even the non-cavers in the group, or personalized laces with which they can tie up their hiking boots.
If friends and family think you are off your rocker for wanting to host your wedding in a cave, just let them have a look at the location once before the wedding day and soon they'll be crazy about it too.
