Blend In By Standing Out
For all that a Maid of Honor does, above and beyond the regular duties of a bridesmaid, shouldn't she be rewarded with something that best speaks her special role and makes her stand out from the crowd?
Today, many brides are choosing to acknowledge that special role, by letting their Maid of Honor choose a dress of a different hue or style from that of the other attendants.
If identical dresses are the theme for the other attendants, then often the Maid of Honor is asked to choose a completely separate but complementing color that lets all in attendance know of her special role. Especially if all of your attendants are already clothed in dresses of different styles, then color is definitely the way to go.
Searching a color wheel for colors that would work in tandem with your main color theme, you can then take your Maid of Honors unique color and work it into your other wedding accessories here and there to blend the dress into the rest of the wedding color palette.
If navy blue was your color of choice, you could offset it by putting your Maid of Honor in a bright yellow dress, and offset the color with a touch of yellow in your wedding invitations, a spattering of gerber daisies or yellow roses in your floral arrangements, or with yellow napkins placed upon navy table cloths. You can also use favor boxes in the specially chosen color, or a sticker to sit atop of the box with the color blended in.
Should you decide against such a dramatic difference, but still want to showcase your Maid of Honor's special role, you might also want to look to her bouquet by making it either slightly larger than the other attendant's bouquets or by utilizing different flowers or different colors in its makeup.
A Maid of Honor does much, much more than the average bridal attendant, why not highlight that difference with something that ensures she blends in by standing out.
