Crowd Pleasing Fare

While traditionally wedding reception fare has always been on par with airplane food in terms of choices (chicken or fish anyone?), a new trend in wedding fare is to provide your guests with foods they love, no matter how unconventional it may be.

From buffet stations that hold pizza, burgers, salad, and French fries, to the slightly more sophisticated mashed potato and macaroni and cheese bars, providing guests with fun crowd-pleasing fare is what this latest trend is all about.

Instead of a gourmet-styled appetizer that will leave guests with questionable looks, why not provide an endless supply of corn chips and a salsa bar for the dipping. Made up of salsa comprised of various levels of spiciness and ingredients including a fruit salsa, your salsa bar can also host tasty toppings such as guacamole, sour cream, spicy meat and a variety of shredded cheeses for toppings.

Looking for an entrée that will leave guests wanting more. Why not BBQ your way to fame? Summer or winter, platters of grilled ribs, steaks, or even freshly caught fish choices are sure to be a hit, and have them lining up for more. Just be sure to provide large sized bibs or napkins to protect guests from the inevitable sauce drippings, and jars of BBQ sauce as favors for guests to take home with them.

If the budget allows, why not boil up a bastion of lobsters that guests can feast on to their hearts delight? With lobster bibs emblazoned with your wedding details as favors for your guests. Just be sure to have an alternative entrée available for those who are slightly more squeamish or possibly allergic.

For a dessert, that compliments rather than replaces the wedding cake, provide your guests with a sundae bar. Have available an assortment of ice cream flavors, sauces that include marshmallow, caramel or the traditional chocolate, an assortment of fruit and nuts for toppings and plenty of whip cream for guests to swirl on. You can even offer jars of sundae toppings with personalized labels as your wedding favors.

Wedding reception fare doesn't always have to be high brow, have some fun with food and let your guests join in with a less conventional and more comfortable assortments of menu items.
