Hip to be Different

While a wedding gives women the chance to shine in stunning designer gowns, accents of jewellery, shoes, and dazzling bouquets as well as the added design elements of elegant updos and hair accessories. The men of a wedding party are often relegated to ordinary tuxedos or suits in neutral colors.  Here their only opportunity to shine, is seen in their colorful ties or boutonnières.  But no more.  Today's groom and his attendants more than ever before have a chance to stand out with coordinated looks that are slightly less elegant, but strikingly more hip.

One way they can do so is through a sweater vest.  While typically not the most exciting accessory, when paired with a neutral shirt and a striking colored tie these vests in patterns of Argyll, Paisley or plain but colored to match the wedding theme offer a casual yet still chic look for those who may not be comfortable in a more traditional attire.

Roll up the sleeves of the matching shirt for a less formal look, or pair it with a short sleeve t-shirt for a relaxed look that still has style.

When groomsmen bedecked in striking sweater vests act as the backdrop upon which the groom, in a straight black or neutral colored tux or suit, is placed, it's a stunning combination. Tradition in the foreground, dramatic flair in the background together it makes a very favorable photo op.

Other ways groomsmen are standing out with hip chic are through their accessories.  Hats that include Panamas, cowboy hats, and Fedoras, and less conventional accessories such as custom-made Converse Chuck Taylors or flip flops worn for a beach wedding.  If looking for a little bling to accessorize with, groomsmen can even choose a more subtle but still stylish, pair of accenting cufflinks or a dramatic tie clip to add a little glitz to their otherwise standard attire.

For those looking to switch things from the bottom up, a pair of slacks or trousers in a complimentary neutral color such as tan, or white for the traditionalists, and forest green or burnt orange for those with a little more of an adventurous spirit, can be paired with a plain black or navy blue blazer.  Add a color complimenting tie and you have a look that still respects the formality of the occasion while allowing groomsmen to express some of their own personality and style.

If your groom and his men, don't fit the typical black tuxedoed groom that sits atop the wedding cake - look to fun ways he and his band of merry men can mix it up.  There's no reason why the women of the wedding party should be the only ones to have a little fun with their attire.
