Invites with that Little Something Extra
Wedding favors are something all bridal couples like to give their guests, but with so many details to look after on the day of the wedding, a surprisingly large number of couples are starting to deliver those favors right to their guest's door hand in hand with their invitations.
While big weddings make this a more challenging (and expensive) prospect, the trend for smaller more intimate weddings makes this a great pre-wedding treat for guests to get them primed and excited for the big day.
While any type of favor will work pre-wedding, the best kinds are those that tie into your wedding theme, or that can help guests prepare themselves for the big day. Favors like a box filled with a pair of pears, for a pear-themed wedding, or a summer "beat-the-heat" kit comprised of a paper fan, bottle of water, and a moist towelette for an outdoor wedding.
Other pre-wedding ideas include, swag bags for destination wedding guests, filled with all the information they could need while in attendance - sites to see, places to eat, and places to stay, as well as a product or sample of some local fare to whet their appetites for what is to come, or invitations attached to a pair of flip-flops that guests can wear to a beach wedding or to signify that they will be able to dance the night away in comfort.
For a fall wedding your spring invitations might include seedlings that will have reached maturity by the day of the wedding, or fall invites that include bulbs that will bloom in time for a spring wedding.
If your wedding will have an ethnic component that pays homage to one or both of your cultures, a small gift representing that culture in the form of a tasty treat, an ornament or figurine, along with a detailed explanation of some of the customs and rituals that will be on display, gives guests a heads up on what to expect while giving them a taste of things to come.
Invitations to candlelight wedding services can come complete with candles. Weddings invitations with a sumptuous cake to look forward to, can come complete with cupcake-sized smaller versions of the real thing.
No matter what your theme or wedding date, crossing one of your "To Do" items off your list by giving guests their favors early, will make for a much smoother day, with less for you to worry about and more for you to enjoy.
