Live Outside the Guest Book Box

With the hectic schedule, the whirlwind romance, and the sheer number of people to mix and mingle with, a bride and groom can often look back on their special day with memories that are a little fuzzy.

A guest book is the perfect wedding accessory to sharpen that memory and allow you to relive the day all over again. The traditional version, while serving the same purpose, often gets looked at only once before being stored away in a box. So, go the non-traditional route and live outside the box.

If you’re the crafty sort, you can make a scrapbook of pictures of you and your groom from childhood to your first meeting, to some special moments of your days together. Chances are if someone is attending your wedding they’ll have known you through one of those stages of your life. Have guests look for the stage that best suits their knowledge of you and have them sign that photo area with their best wishes and name.

Another guest book idea is to have an engagement photo of the two of you surrounded by a large white mat, and have your guests sign it. When your wedding photos arrive, switch out the same size picture, and frame both mat and picture together for a memento you’ll treasure.

Another idea with a photographic theme is to have on hand a Polaroid camera and a person assigned to take photos of your guests as they enter the hall. Have a scrapbook nearby where your guests can glue their pictures, leave a sweet message next to it, and even add a few embellishments.

If you have a wanna-be filmmaker in the family you can assign him or her to create personal video messages from your guests as they enter or as the evening progresses.

A final unique idea requires a little forethought on your part, and someone who has time to spare between the ceremony and the reception. With a digital photograph taken of the bride and groom, have a jigsaw puzzle made from the picture for guests to sign the back of. This idea has the added benefit of being the perfect icebreaker for guests to get to know each other, and results in a keepsake that can be framed in a clear frame for the bride and groom to view from either side. Have many made and you also have a unique wedding favor for guests to take home.

Guests book are supposed to be a keepsake that helps you relive your day, so live outside the box and let it see the light of day.
