Shrugging Off the Cold

The vision of a bride in a sleeveless gown waltzing down the aisle towards her groom who is dressed nice and warmly in a shirt and jacket can be a cold one, especially if it's a scene that takes place in the dead of winter. To beat the chills that can challenge even the most fashion conscious bride turn to a shrug to ward off the cold and warm up your look.

Depending upon the level of cold you may face, you may be able to choose anything from complimentary silk or satin shrugs, a soft to the touch cashmere shrugs or shrugs that consist of intricately designed lace.

A cropped cardigan-like covering with short or long sleeves, a shrug not only makes for a beautiful wedding accessory it is also a functional one, that won't hamper your movements or your style.

While some shrugs join in the front with an ornate fastener, others are tied with ribbon that is either wide or narrow, and others will cut sharply to the sides and be nothing more that sleeves joined at the back.

For winter brides the benefit of wearing a fur shrug or a fun fur shrug goes beyond the warding off of cold, and the touch of glamour it bestows. It also provides added coverage for scars, tattoos or marks you don't wish to share at your ceremony, or for arms that may not be as toned as you would have liked, while at the same time accenting a narrow waist.

In some houses of worships, bared shoulders or backs are frowned upon, making a shrug the perfect accessory to allow you to have the ornate strapless, or thin strapped wedding gown that you had always dreamed of while still respecting the wishes of the officiate who is performing your ceremony.

A romantic look that shows beautifully in photographs, a shrug even if not worn for the ceremony makes a wonderful accessory that photographers can use to turn your ordinary photos into extraordinary photos.

If you are looking for a fashionable and glamorous way to shrug off the cold on your wedding day, look to a shrug and warm right up.
