The Brides of the Round Table

A new trend in weddings called the Sweetheart's Table is the source of much controversy. Designed as a dining spot exclusive for the bride and groom, it provides an opportunity for the couple to enjoy a romantic first meal together.

While many find this new seating arrangement, also known sometimes as the King and Queen's table to be too officious and segregating, most brides who have used this arrangement at their wedding, are glad that they did.

Not only does it take away any possible family conflicts that can occur with the many step-relationships that exist today, it can also be the solution for those attendants with spouses or dates who would otherwise have to sit alone amidst people they may never have met before. A sweetheart table is much more inclusive, allowing the bride and groom to sit down amongst their guests, rather than raised above them on a dais.

For those bridal couples that like the idea of the Sweetheart's Table but would still like to sit with their attendants in a group like setting, use a single round table situated on the main floor of the reception hall. This table is specifically held for the bride and groom, their attendants, and their partners. A set-up like this not only dodges the family seating bullet, by being limited to 8-10 seats, it also fosters more intimate conversation with your attendants. Be sure to decorate the table more ornately than the others. Use place cards to let it be known that there is a formal seating arrangement.

So brides of the world unite and create your own round table, whether for your new husband and yourself alone, or for your entire wedding party and have the best of all worlds with none of the stress or worry.
