The Reception
Once the vows are said and the knot is tied, the second part of your celebration, The Reception, begins.
Your reception can be one of a variety of formats. It could be coffee and deserts, appetizers, an intimate dinner, a buffet or a formal sit down catered meal. This is determined by the time of the day you are married and your budget.
A wedding ceremony scheduled for morning may have a reception of coffee and sweets laid out like a garden party. This can include dainties and plates of fruit with small chocolate fondues at each table.
A wedding followed with a reception that occurs at lunch may have a buffet with foods influenced by your cultural heritage. You may choose to have your tables set up with favors that also reflect your background.
Early afternoon weddings may be followed by a beach party theme reception. This can include having your guest dress for an afternoon at the beach with decorations of beach balls and palm trees. Your menu could include potato salad, fried chicken or simple sandwiches with assorted side dishes. Another choice could be a more formal afternoon tea. This could be a sit down occasion with china place settings and fancy dainties and finger sandwiches.
If your wedding is later in the afternoon with the reception falling during the dinner hours your options are wide open. You may have a formal served meal with many courses or a simple buffet.
The key thing to remember with your reception is that it is a reflection of you as a couple. It is a time to celebrate and visit with your guests. It is a time to enjoy your first hours of being a married couple.
