Tripping the Night Fantastic

For some the first dance together as husband and wife is a moment that is looked forward to with romantic sentimentality. For others it is a moment that is looked forward to with fear and dread. If you have two left feet, discover how you too can learn to “trip the night fantastic” in Fred Astair style.

First decide how formal of a dance you would like. If your chosen song is a very slow contemporary song, you may want to forgo all of your fears and worries in favor of a slow side to side motion, reminiscent of a junior high prom, arms entwined around each other. If your song has a more formal edge to it, and you would like to move with some authority, then it’s off to the dance studio.

Once you’ve made the decision to take dancing lessons, look upon it as yet another way you can bond together before you take that next big step. Upon meeting your dance instructor, share your chosen piece of music with them and they can let you know what style of dance (i.e. foxtrot, waltz, rumba, swing, etc.) would best suit the tempo of the music.

If doing the more formal and stylized traditional dances like a waltz is not your style, why not pick a piece of contemporary music that means something to the both of you, and choreograph your own dance moves. This saves the dilemma of dealing with two left feet, and leaves behind a fun and lasting impression for yourselves and guests to fondly remember for a long time to come.

Look forward to your first dance as husband and wife, and trip the night fantastic with your own signature style.
