A couple's monogram is a combination of their initials placed in a distinct and creative pattern. The initial of the groom's surname is usually larger and centered in the middle of the monogram, and the first initials of the bride and groom are placed on either side. Typically, the bride's first initial goes on the left with the groom's first initial on the right.
For example, if Mary Jones married Bob Smith then their monogram would be MSB.
Monograms have long withstood the test of time, dating back to the 15th Century when they were used for the simple purpose of identifying laundry. They have since become one of the most popular forms of decorative personalization.
Traditionally, only the wealthy enjoyed embroidered monograms of their family's initials, crest or coat of arms sewn into their linens. But by the 1800s, monograms became more mainstream and middle class families began to adopt the custom as a statement of individuality and family pride.

"I love my sand ceremony. The stand looks nice but you wouldn't want to move it suddenly without having a hold of the actual glass and sand. My cap just sit in which is fine but if it did ever tip, it'd be a big mess! The engraving is pretty faint can only really see it if you are looking for it. I still love it and know what it says, just would be nice to have it a little more visable!"

"I love this set. I do agree with the rest of the comments that the stand is a bit cheap, however, mine sits well in it. And the topper fits well. I got our initials put on this and I find that it's a bit pale, but it might look better once the sand is in it. Overall, I am very satisfied with this product. The vases are of good quality and thick glass. "

"This product is poorly made, the stand looks very cheap and the glass topper does not fit properly on the top. It is just cheaply made. We are still trying to figure out how to make a new stand for it, and what exactly we should do about the "topper." The idea is great, love the shape...just disappointed overall. You should buy a different product."

"This beautiful sand ceremony set was delivered very quickly, and without any problems. The inscriptions I asked for were there and the vases were in perfect condition. It is a lovely set that will become a nice decor after the wedding. I was very pleased with the item. A little expensive, but worth it to have forever. Happygirl"

My only "negative" would be that the stand the heart vase sits in is not as high quality as the vases - -but overall, it is a really nice set and worked beautifully at the wedding!"

Cons: Awkward to Use
"This was a such a beautiful design and great product! When I took it out of the box it was just was I expected, except for one thing. We were really looking for a sand ceremony vase with a lid so we could safely keep it on our mantle, and while this was the only one we found with a lid, it actually does not close securely. It just sits in the top of the vase lightly. Still, it will be beautiful to use on our wedding day."
